Writer, Producer, Actor and former Talk Show Host, Keenan Ivory Wayans is one of the industry’s most multi-faceted and talented performers. The director of last year’s surprise hit, Scary Movie, Ivory Wayans’ film became the highest grossing film ever directed by an African-American. People who feigned surprise forget that what Ivory Wayans did with Scary is a variation of what he’s done throughout his career – he just expanded the base of his audience for that film.

In addition to his successful big screen career, Ivory Wayans has found his biggest success on television. His impact on popular culture was secured when he launched one of the best comedy sketch shows in television history, In Living Color. The show launched the careers of a bevy of talented comedians and actors including Tommy Davidson, Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, David Alan Grier, Jennifer Lopez and of course, Damon, Shawn and Marlon Wayans.

In 1997, Ivory Wayans tried his hand as a talk show host with his short-lived show. Although it didn’t last, Ivory Wayans revolutionized the late night wars by creating an all-girl house band – the first of it’s kind!

As a writer, Ivory Wayans’ comedic impact has been felt in his collaborations with Eddie Murphy (Eddie Murphy Raw) and Robert Townsend (The Five Heartbeats and Hollywood Shuffle). Can Ivory Wayans catch lightning in a bottle for the second year in a row with his new film, Scary Movie 2? Looking at his career, I surely wouldn’t bet against him.
